ORIGIN OF GELATO

It is said that gelato was invented in the XVI century by the architect Bernardo Buontalenti, considered a great contribution to Italian gastronomy and culture. But there are those who claim that it was the Sicilian Francesco Procopio dei Coltelli, who invented gelato and founded the Gelateria Cafe Procope in Paris, where he sold a wide variety of gelato and coffee. Both Italians made gelato the world’s favorite cold dessert, made with a mixture of lemon, sugar, honey, wine, egg and milk. It is a tradition and a great pleasure to enjoy a gelato while walking through the streets of an Italian town or village.
